LEAP India Shares Surge on Listing Day, Decoupling from Grey Market Expectations as IPO Delivers Strong Debut

LEAP India shares made a positive debut today on both the NSE and BSE markets, confirming a buoyant start after its highly anticipated IPO. The stock listed above its issue price, demonstrating strong market reception for the technology-enabled supply chain solutions provider. Following the listing, LEAP India's market capitalization stood at approximately ₹7,312.91 crore.

Listing Performance and Investor Demand

The company's shares opened at ₹165.9 on the NSE, reflecting a gain of 4.34 percent over the IPO issue price. On the BSE, LEAP India debuted at ₹166, showing an increase of 4.40 percent from the offering level. This debut placed the stock slightly below the premium anticipated in the grey market.

The IPO, which raised a total of ₹2,480 crore, was robustly subscribed by investors. Over its three-day bidding period, running from August 7 to August 11, the issue was subscribed at 8.38 times. Exchange data indicates that investors placed bids for 96,32,58,796 equity shares against a total offering of 11,49,91,735 shares.

IPO Structure and Retail Participation

The IPO had a defined price band set between ₹151 and ₹159 per share, with the upper end becoming the final issue price. Investor demand was primarily driven by Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) and Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs). The retail portion of the IPO achieved a subscription rate of 1.71 times.

LEAP India utilized the funds raised in a mixed manner across its financing structure. A fresh issue comprising ₹480 crore was part of the overall offering. Additionally, an Offer For Sale (OFS) worth ₹2,000 crore was structured for existing shareholders. Proceeds from the OFS are designated to accrue entirely to the selling shareholders.

Capital Allocation and Corporate Intent

The company has outlined specific plans for deploying a significant portion of the proceeds. A total of ₹360 crore from the fresh issue amount is earmarked specifically to repay existing debt obligations. The remaining funds generated by the IPO will be utilized for general corporate purposes. This clear allocation strategy aims to solidify operational stability following the capital infusion.

Anchor Investor Interest and IPO Management

Prior to the public listing, LEAP India successfully raised ₹743.62 crore through the allotment of 4.67 crore shares to 32 anchor investors. The anchor book demonstrated considerable global interest, featuring major entities such as Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Societe Generale, Goldman Sachs, and Norway's Government Pension Fund Global.

The complexity of managing this successful IPO required a consortium of firms. JM Financial, Avendus Capital, IIFL Capital Services, and UBS Securities India were among the institutions entrusted with the management of the offering. The shares are officially listed across both the BSE and NSE platforms.
