GEE Limited Supplies Consumables as Indian Navy Commissions Three Indigenous Warships

GEE Limited, a leading manufacturer of welding consumables and solutions in India, has been recognized for its crucial role in the triple commissioning ceremony of three advanced naval warships—INS Dunagiri, INS Agray, and INS Sanshodhak. The event took place in Kolkata on June 21, 2026.

The company served as the exclusive supplier of welding consumables for these frontline naval assets. The vessels were formally inducted into the Indian Navy during a ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This marks only the second instance of such a triple commissioning of naval platforms in recent years.

The three warships, designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), represent a significant milestone for India’s defence manufacturing sector. All vessels were built indigenously with substantial local content exceeding 75%.

GEE Limited's role as the sole supplier ensured the highest standards of fabrication and structural integrity for these critical naval assets. The warships include:

  • INS Dunagiri: A Project 17A Stealth Frigate, designated as a multi-role blue water combat platform equipped with BrahMos and Barak-8 missiles.
  • INS Agray: An Arnala-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft specialized in littoral operations and submarine hunting.
  • INS Sanshodhak: An Advanced Survey Vessel equipped for deep-sea hydrographic surveys utilizing Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).

This partnership with GRSE underscores GEE Limited's expanding footprint within the high precision, high reliability segments of the defence industry. The company continues to invest in R&D and capacity expansion to capitalize on India’s focus on self-reliant defence manufacturing.

Umesh Agrawal, Joint Managing Director of GEE Limited, stated that the supply assignment was a deep honour. He commented, "Supplying critical welding consumables for three diverse naval platforms simultaneously underscores GEE's technical expertise, consistent quality, and reliability in supporting India's strategic defence programmes. This achievement reinforces our commitment to nation-building and positions GEE strongly within the growing indigenous defence and shipbuilding ecosystem."

GEE Limited is a premier manufacturer of welding electrodes, wires, and fluxes, serving diverse sectors including shipbuilding, power, infrastructure, oil & gas, and defence, committed to supporting India's goal of becoming a global manufacturing hub through superior welding solutions.
