The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) has announced a major fleet expansion move, contracting to purchase a secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carrier.

The acquisition involves a vessel built in 2015 with a capacity of approximately 81,886 deadweight tons (dwt). The company expects this new addition to join its fleet during Q3 FY27.

GE Shipping confirmed that the entire purchase will be financed using internal accruals. The primary purpose of this acquisition is dedicated to expanding the Company's current fleet capacity.

Fleet and Capacity Details​

The procurement comes as GE Shipping continues to manage a substantial operating fleet. Currently, the Company owns 40 vessels in total. These assets are categorized across tankers and dry bulk carriers, aggregating a significant operational capacity.

The company’s existing inventory includes 25 Tankers—comprising 5 Crude Tankers, 16 Product Tankers, and 4 LPG Carriers—alongside 15 Dry Bulk Carriers. The latter group features Capesize, Kamsarmax, Ultramax, and Supramax vessels.

The current operations of the Dry Bulk Carrier division aggregate a capacity of 3.24 million dwt. Furthermore, GE Shipping reported that its current capacity utilization remains close to 100 percent.
