The commerce ministry’s arm, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, said on Wednesday that it has rolled out a series of trade facilitation measures in 2025, focusing on rationalisation of policies to support exporters and improve ease of doing business.

According to an official statement, the initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s trade facilitation ecosystem through timely issuance of authorisations and streamlined policy frameworks.

New Authorisations and Import Policy Adjustments

As part of the measures, the DGFT launched the Diamond Imprest Authorization to support the gems and jewellery sector. It also extended the free import policy for key pulses to help stabilise domestic markets.

In addition, regulatory adjustments were introduced in import and export policies covering a wide range of items, including synthetic knitted fabrics, urea, platinum, areca nut, agro-products, and other sensitive food commodities.

Restoration of RoDTEP Benefits

A key facilitation step highlighted in the statement was the restoration and alignment of Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products benefits. This included coverage for Advance Authorization holders, Special Economic Zones, and Export Oriented Units.

The DGFT said these initiatives have contributed to improved service efficiency, ensured document non-reputability, and simplified trade processes for exporters.
