CDU Restoration Completed at HRRL Refinery; HPCL Notes Start of Production
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has reported that the restoration work on the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) of its JV company, HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL), is complete. The unit has been successfully started following a localized fire incident in the CDU’s heat exchanger stack that occurred on April 20, 2026.The refinery has commenced production of several main petroleum products, including BS-VI High Speed Diesel (HSD), LPG, Petcoke, and Naphtha. Management at HPCL and HRRL is focused on ensuring stable and efficient operations as the refinery progressively ramps up its production to achieve optimal capacity utilization.
All product streams from the CDU/VDU are currently being produced and routed to their respective tanks for downstream processing. The operational status includes several sales and dispatch timelines. Sales of LPG and Petcoke have already commenced, while dispatches of BS-VI HSD are anticipated by the end of the week. This will be followed next week by the commencement of production and subsequent dispatches of BS-VI Motor Spirit (MS).
