Segment Performance Analysis
The first quarter saw varied performance across Blue Star's business segments:Electro-Mechanical Projects and Commercial Air Conditioning Systems: This segment experienced robust growth, with revenue increasing by 15.1% to reach Rs 1,625.05 crores from Rs 1,412.46 crores in Q1FY26. The Segment Result stood at Rs 110.22 crores (6.8% of Revenue). Strong order bookings driven by investments in data centres characterized the projects business. However, inflow from commercial offices and infrastructure remained sluggish as cost escalations linked to the West Asia crisis led to deferred order finalisations.
Unitary Products Segment: The segment grew 12.7% to Rs 1,689.31 crores, up from Rs 1,499.37 crores in Q1FY26. The Segment Result was reported at Rs 49.69 crores (2.9% of revenue), compared to Rs 87.47 crores (5.8%) in the previous year. Margin pressure resulted from a inventory pile-up with trade and delayed onset of the summer season. While market prices remained subdued despite efforts to pass on cost escalation, the Commercial Refrigeration business faced muted demand for deep freezers, though management expects pick up during the forthcoming festival season.
Professional Electronics and Industrial Systems: Revenue in this segment declined by 9.7% to Rs 63.56 crores, down from Rs 70.42 crores in Q1FY26. The Segment Result was reported at Rs 9.57 crores (15.1% of revenue), up from Rs 7.62 crores (10.8%) in Q1FY26. This decline is mainly attributed to challenges in the MedTech Solutions business, although the Industrial Solutions segment showed steady growth supported by manufacturing and testing sectors.
Management Outlook
Vir S. Advani, Chairman & Managing Director of Blue Star Limited, noted that while the company achieved modest revenue growth despite multiple headwinds, the strong inflow of orders for Data Centre MEP projects is expected to support future quarters. He stated that commodity prices and exchange rates remain highly volatile, making the prudent balancing of volume growth against margins a primary focus across all product businesses.Advani further mentioned that Blue Star's brand salience remains high due to its dealer network and reputation for reliable products designed for Indian conditions. The company plans to continue investing in research and development with an emphasis on value analysis, value engineering, and product optimization. Management remains committed to controlling operating costs and maintaining a strong balance sheet. While the medium-term fundamentals of the HVAC&R industry appear robust, the ongoing conflict in West Asia warrants a cautious outlook for the remainder of the financial year.
