Bharti Airtel Limited announced its audited consolidated results for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q1 FY27), which ended on June 30, 2026. The company reported robust performance across its global operations, driven significantly by growth in the Indian market and a disciplined focus on core businesses.

Consolidated revenues reached Rs 58,539 crore for the quarter, marking an 18.4% increase year-over-year (YoY) and a 5.7% rise quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). The company reported consolidated EBITDA of Rs 33,599 crore, translating to an EBITDA margin of 57.4%. Consolidated EBIT stood at Rs 19,282 crore, achieving an EBIT margin of 32.9%. Net income (before Exceptional items) was reported at Rs 8,057 crore, up from Rs 5,948 crore in Q1 FY26.

Key Operational Highlights and Market Penetration​

The India business recorded revenues of Rs 41,214 crore, showing a 9.7% YoY growth and a 4.2% QoQ increase. Mobile revenue grew by 9.2% YoY, supported by improved Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) at Rs 264 in Q1 FY27, up from Rs 250 in Q1 FY26.

The company noted strong performance in its postpaid segment, recording a highest ever quarterly postpaid customer addition of 1.0 million, bringing the customer base to 30.0 million. The smartphone data customer base increased by 21.1 million over the past year and 5.0 million QoQ, representing 80% of total mobile customers in this segment.

The Homes segment also delivered robust revenue growth of 33.2% YoY. During the quarter, Airtel added 473 thousand customers to the Homes portfolio, bringing the total customer base to 14.7 million. Meanwhile, Airtel Business revenue grew by 12.0% YoY, driven by strong momentum in its digital services portfolio and steady growth in connectivity solutions.

Financial Health and Strategic Investments​

The company maintained a focus on strategic execution and balance sheet strength. Consolidated Net Debt to EBITDA (annualized) stands at 1.17, an improvement from the ratio of 1.70 as recorded on June 30, 2025. The consolidated Net Debt (excluding lease obligations) to EBITDAaL ratio (annualised) is reported at 0.69.

In terms of infrastructure expansion and product innovation, Bharti Airtel deployed 1,579 towers and 14,540 mobile broadband base stations during the quarter. Over the last year, the company rolled out 7,631 additional towers and deployed 45,171 kilometers of fiber to enhance its digital infrastructure reach.

During the quarter, Airtel also launched Postpaid Fast Lane, a new innovation powered by 5G slicing technology. Furthermore, the company announced the launch of Airtel Secure Workforce in India, its first fully managed and unified Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) security platform for enterprises.

Customer Base and Africa Operations​

Across all operations, Airtel added 14.9 million customers during the quarter, bringing its total customer base to 681 million across 15 countries. In India, the company's mobile customer base reached 491,890 thousand. The Africa business reported a solid revenue growth of 21.1% YoY in Constant Currency and ended the period with a customer base of 188,999 thousand.

In addition to core business activities, Bharti Airtel completed an EPS-accretive share swap transaction to increase its stake in Airtel Africa PLC to over 79%, reinforcing conviction in the continent's long-term growth opportunities.
