BASF India to Close Metal Complex Dyes Production Line in Mangalore

BASF India Limited has announced the closure of its Metal Complex Dyes (MCD) production line located at its manufacturing site in Mangalore. The decision, approved by the Board of Directors at a meeting held on March 30, 2026, is attributed to the commoditized nature of the MCD business and its limited strategic relevance and pricing power, impacting margins and profitability.

The MCD production line is part of the Dispersions Business within the Industrial Solutions Segment. During the fiscal year 2024-25, the MCD Production Line generated approximately Rs. 15 crore in revenue, representing 0.1% of BASF India’s total revenue.

The closure is anticipated to occur during the last quarter of 2026.
