BASF India Limited has approved the closure of specific manufacturing units pertaining to its Care Chemicals business at the Dahej facility. The decision was made following a meeting of the Board of Directors, held on August 4, 2026.

The plants targeted for closure include the sulfation and low temperature reactor plants within the Company's Care Chemicals operations in Dahej. The closure move is attributed to the changing competitive landscape in India, which has resulted in extensive overcapacities, high costs, and margin pressure across relevant segments.

The company stated that these facilities of the Care Chemicals business are expected to be closed by the end of calendar year 2026, contingent upon receiving all requisite approvals.

In terms of its broader strategy for the Care Chemicals division, BASF India will continue manufacturing, importing, and selling other chemical products to customers in India based on their specific requirements.

During the financial year 2025-26, the manufacturing operations belonging to the Care Chemicals Business at the Dahej site, which falls under the Nutrition & Care Segment, contributed a specific portion of revenue to the company.
