BASF India Completes Coatings Sale, Plans Agricultural Solutions Demerger; Reports Financial Performance​

BASF India Limited has finalized the sale of its coatings business while progressing toward the demerger of its agricultural solutions division. The company also reported on its operational status and financial performance for Fiscal Year 2025-26, highlighting strategic investments in manufacturing and a continued focus on safety and sustainability.

In major corporate transitions, BASF India transferred 100% of its shares in the Coatings business to Carlyle Group on June 30, 2026. The Coatings business is now operated by Carlyle under the brand "Surventis." As part of this transaction, BASF India received Rs 230.16 crore.

Simultaneously, the demerger of Agricultural Solutions from BASF India into a separate legal entity has advanced. This action was approved by BIL shareholders with a 99.99% majority. Shareholders can anticipate holding 1:1 shares of the new company, BASF Agricultural Solutions India Limited (BASIL). The listing of BASIL shares is targeted for the first half of 2027, pending requisite approvals.

Financial Performance and Operational Highlights​

The company reviewed its financial results for FY 2025-26, noting that while volumes were higher, there was lower price realization. Profit before tax before exceptional items (PBTbEI) was impacted by higher input costs and product mix.

The company also highlighted significant strategic investments and commitments across its operations. A Cellasto® plant groundbreaking was completed at the Dahej site in January 2025, and a new dispersions line is planned for Mangalore, with groundwork scheduled for February 2026 to strengthen local production in India.

Commitment to Safety and Sustainability​

BASF India maintained that Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) remains a top priority. From April 2025 to July 2026, the company recorded no high severity incidents (HSI) or Process Safety Incidents (PSI), reporting two Lost Time Injuries (LTI).

The company also noted operational safety achievements:
* Thane and Panoli sites achieved a GREEN rating in recently concluded Responsible Care (RC) Audits.

In terms of environmental stewardship, BASF India partnered with Clean Max to procure hybrid solar and wind power for its plants in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Furthermore, the company drives impact through various CSR activities aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): Through WeChemie, trained 250 women in chemistry, with 80% placed in the Chemical Industry.
  • SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation): Providing School and Community Water ATMs to approximately 8,000 beneficiaries through NGO (Water Life).
  • SDG 13 (Climate Action): Conducting BASF Kids' Lab on Climate Action, which has seen participation from 8,400 children since 2023.

BASF India also continued its dedication to innovation and community engagement, including co-launching Clearfield® Mustard Production System with Corteva and launching Melyra®, Frivon®, and Inveris® Gold to support crop protection and higher yields.

BASF Stock Price Movement​

BASF India Limited shares slipped by 1.12% to settle at ₹3990.1 today, as the stock closed after a session marked by declines. The company registered a total traded volume of 26,790 shares during the day.
