New Delhi, February 16: The AI Impact Summit 2026 has strengthened India’s position in global conversations on artificial intelligence and technology governance, Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha said on Monday.
Addressing the summit in the national capital, Chadha said India is increasingly being recognised as a significant voice in shaping how artificial intelligence is governed, developed, and deployed for public good.
AI Becomes a Strategic Issue
Chadha stressed that artificial intelligence is no longer confined to technological innovation alone."Artificial intelligence is no longer just a technological issue, but a strategic one," he said, underlining its growing influence on national power and global competitiveness.
According to him, nations that possess strong computing capabilities and advanced digital infrastructure are likely to dominate in the years ahead. He noted that the ability to process large volumes of data and maintain robust digital ecosystems will determine leadership in the AI-driven era.
Three Global Monopolies in Artificial Intelligence
Highlighting structural imbalances in the AI landscape, Chadha pointed to what he described as three global monopolies shaping the sector. He said control over AI design remains concentrated in the hands of a limited number of companies. Manufacturing capabilities are similarly restricted to specific regions, while exports are subject to policy constraints such as those imposed by the United States.
While India does not currently control these three pillars, he asserted that the country possesses a distinct advantage in its human capital.
Human Capital as India’s Strength
Chadha emphasised that India’s talent pool is increasingly recognised worldwide, with global demand for AI professionals and skilled manpower rising steadily. However, he cautioned that talent alone is insufficient.
"Talent without computing resources is just aspiration," he said, calling for expanded access to high-end computing infrastructure. He urged diversification of supply chains and the development of strong domestic capabilities to ensure India can compete effectively on the global stage.
AI and Semiconductors to Shape 21st Century Power
Drawing a historical parallel, Chadha compared the role of artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing in the 21st century to the importance of oil, gas, and steel in the 20th century. He said emerging technologies will define geopolitical influence in the coming decades and stressed that India must act decisively to secure its place in the evolving global order.
Earlier in the day, Chadha shared his remarks on social media, expressing enthusiasm about speaking at the AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.
Calling it a defining moment, he said the summit will shape how artificial intelligence is governed, built, and used to protect citizens in the years ahead.
