India's leading packaging products company, AGI Greenpac Limited, has recommended the appointment of Mr. Shashvat Somany as Joint Managing Director (JMD) for a term of five years. The recommendation, which is subject to shareholder approval, sets the new role to be effective from October 1, 2026.
Mr. Shashvat Somany currently serves as Head of Strategy at AGI Greenpac and has been instrumental in leading several strategy and transformation initiatives across the Group's various businesses. Mr. Somyany holds an MBA in Technology and Analytics from London Business School and possesses a BA in Economics and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also founded SIG Tattva, the corporate venture capital platform established by the Company, which focuses on supporting deep-tech innovation alongside sustainability-driven clean technologies and enterprise SaaS solutions. Prior to joining AGI Greenpac, he began his career with Deloitte Consulting, advising clients in the consumer, industrial, and telecommunications sectors.
In his capacity as Joint Managing Director, Mr. Somyany will work alongside Sandip Somany, Chairman and Managing Director, overseeing operational management and the Company's ongoing expansion. The scope of operations includes AGI Greenpac’s core areas: container glass and specialty glass, PET bottles, security caps and closures, and its recent diversification into aluminium cans.
Sandip Somyany, Chairman and Managing Director, stated that the Board's recommendation reflects a considered view of the Company's requirements as it navigates growth, strengthens its manufacturing foundation, and expands into new categories. He expressed confidence that Mr. Somyany will continue to create lasting value for stakeholders alongside the leadership team.
Mr. Shashvat Somany commented on the appointment, noting his honour at the Board’s recommendation. He described this moment as defining for the Company, highlighting the efforts in diversifying into aluminium cans and increasing manufacturing capacity while expanding geographically.
