Aether Industries and Dow Partner to Advance Silicone Technology Manufacturing in India​

Surat, July 31, 2026 – Aether Industries Limited, a specialty chemical manufacturer known for contract research and manufacturing services (CRAMS), and Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. announced the launch of a collaborative research program aimed at developing new manufacturing technologies for silicones in India.

Silicones are strategically important high-performance materials used across numerous sectors, including electronics, healthcare, construction, mobility, transportation, and personal care. This partnership is designed to create significant opportunities for domestic innovation and indigenous technology development within the Indian market.

The collaborative program will be executed jointly by both companies. All research and pilot-scale development work will take place at Aether’s R&D and pilot facilities located in Surat, Gujarat.

This collaboration marks an important milestone in advancing domestic innovation through a dedicated research program focused on silicone manufacturing technologies. The agreement establishes a framework for a long-term strategic partnership, which includes the potential commercialization and industrial-scale manufacture of the technologies developed during the program.

Executives from both organizations emphasized the significance of the collaboration in strengthening capabilities within high-growth markets.

Dr. Aman Desai, Co-Founder and Director of Research and Operations at Aether Industries, stated that the partnership is a privilege. "We are delighted that Dow has chosen Aether as its exclusive research partner for this pioneering program," Dr. Desai said. He added that the collaboration merges Aether's core chemistry competencies with Dow’s global leadership in silicone applications, confidentially noting that the partnership will deliver innovative manufacturing technologies to address India's expanding materials market.

Brendy Lange, President of Dow Performance Materials & Coatings, highlighted the strategic benefit for Dow. "This collaboration strengthens our ability to bring materials science innovation closer to high-growth markets and evolving customer needs," Ms. Lange commented. She added that by combining their strengths, they see an opportunity to accelerate innovation and create differentiated silicone solutions for customers in India and beyond.

Dr. Mukund Parthasarathy, Business Vice President of R&D at Dow Performance Materials & Coatings, stressed the importance of moving technology from science to scale. He added that through this collaborative approach, they aim to move faster toward scalable technologies, addressing market demand and unlocking future business opportunities in silicones.

Siddhartha Ghosal, Country President of Dow India, pointed out the potential created by the local market.
