Pace Digitek Limited Establishes R&D Center in Pune, Collaborates with IISER to Advance Advanced Battery Technologies

Pace Digitek Limited has announced that its subsidiary, Lineage Power Private Limited (LPPL), has established a dedicated Research and Development (R&D) center in Pune. The facility is designed to strengthen the company's research, engineering, and product development capabilities in advanced battery technologies and energy storage solutions.

The Pace-Lineage Research Center aims to contribute to indigenous technology development within the energy sector. As part of this commitment, Lineage Power has initiated a research collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, focusing on advanced battery materials and related technologies.

Focus Areas and Scope of Research

The program at the Pace-Lineage Research Center will concentrate heavily on Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC). The research scope includes both Lithium-ion (Li-ion) and Sodium-ion (Na-ion) battery materials, targeting improvements in battery capacity and cycling stability.

Detailed work areas encompass:
  • Optimization of material coatings and tuning of material microstructure and porosity.
  • Design of novel electrolytes.
  • Electrochemical evaluation and detailed material characterization.
  • Cell parameter optimization.

A key strategic component is the validation and evaluation of raw materials sourced from domestic suppliers, thereby supporting indigenous technology development and strengthening the local supply chain.

The establishment of this R&D facility underscores Pace Digitek's long-term strategy to expand its research and engineering capabilities within ACC technologies and advanced battery systems. By investing in scientific research, the company plans to accelerate technology advancement, build internal expertise, and support innovation throughout the energy storage value chain.

Industry Context and Leadership View

The growth of India's energy storage market is projected to be significant, driven by increasing grid modernization, renewable energy integration, and the persistent demand for reliable energy solutions. The new R&D Center complements Pace Digitek’s existing capabilities in manufacturing, engineering, and project execution across the industry.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Venugopal Rao Maddisetty, Chairman & Managing Director of Pace Digitek Limited, stated that technology and innovation are critical to the future of energy storage. He added that the partnership with IISER Pune combines scientific research and industrial expertise to advance battery materials and support indigenous technology creation, which he believes will create long-term value for stakeholders.
