
Aether Industries and Dow Initiate Collaborative Research Program for Silicone Manufacturing in India
Aether Industries Limited, a leading specialty chemical manufacturer and provider of contract research and manufacturing services (CRAMS), and Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) have announced a collaborative research program aimed at developing new manufacturing technologies for silicones in India.The initiative represents an important milestone dedicated to advancing domestic innovation in the sector. Silicones are defined as strategically important high-performance materials, finding applications across critical industries including electronics, construction, mobility and transportation, healthcare, and personal care. This collaboration seeks to create a substantial opportunity for indigenous technology development and manufacturing within India.
The program will be jointly executed by both companies. All research and pilot-scale development activities will be conducted at Aether's R&D and pilot facilities located in Surat, Gujarat. The partnership establishes a framework for a long-term strategic alliance, which includes the potential commercialization and industrial-scale manufacture of technologies developed through the program.
Speaking on the collaboration, Dr. Aman Desai, Co-Founder and Director, Research and Operations at Aether Industries, stated that they are delighted that Dow has chosen Aether as its exclusive research partner for this pioneering program. He added confidence that the partnership will deliver innovative manufacturing technologies and establish a long-term platform to address India's rapidly expanding silicone materials market.
