
Adobe Appoints Shamik Basu as Vice President, Creative Products Group in India
Noida, India – Adobe announced the appointment of Shamik Basu as Vice President, Creative Products Group in India, bolstering the company’s commitment to local innovation and leadership. Mr. Basu will be based in Noida and will lead Adobe India’s engineering and product management teams, reporting to Ely Greenfield. He will also be a member of the company’s India leadership team, focused on driving growth and innovation within the country.“India is a priority market for Adobe and key to advancing intelligent, creator-first experiences at scale,” stated Ely Greenfield. He emphasized the critical role of India teams in design, imaging, video, and AI-led initiatives, including Adobe Firefly.
Mr. Basu expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with teams in India and globally to develop next-generation creative technology experiences, particularly as artificial intelligence reshapes the industry. His responsibilities will include close collaboration with global teams on key products such as Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro. The firm highlighted the strengthening of India’s strategic role across creativity and productivity offerings.
Mr. Basu brings over three decades of experience building large-scale software platforms to Adobe. Most recently, he held a leadership position at Microsoft, overseeing initiatives focused on performance, reliability, and AI-driven user experiences.
Adobe, which established operations in India in 1997, has grown into a significant hub for the company, employing over 8,000 individuals across multiple campuses and contributing substantially to its global innovation efforts.
Following the announcement, shares of Adobe Inc. were trading nearly 1 per cent higher at $248.15 in US markets on the Nasdaq.
Earlier this month, Adobe announced that Shantanu Narayen, the company’s long-serving chief executive, will step down after nearly two decades in the role. Mr. Narayen will transition to the role of board chair, providing support during the leadership transition. The board has established a special committee to oversee the succession process, considering both internal and external candidates.
