
YKK India to Invest USD 150 Million in New Manufacturing Facility at Origins by Mahindra
Chennai: Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, has announced that YKK India Private Limited will establish a new manufacturing facility within the integrated industrial cluster, Origins by Mahindra, Chennai. This move positions the Indian subsidiary of YKK Corporation as a growing player in the nation's industrial landscape.The new facility is planned to cover approximately 149,936 square metres and involves a total investment of USD 150 million. According to YKK India, this will be its third manufacturing plant in India, with completion anticipated by February 2028.
Origins by Mahindra continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading destination for international manufacturing investments in India. YKK India is set to join other global manufacturers already operating within the cluster, including Mitsubishi Electric, Yanmar, and Omron.
The new state-of-the-art facility will be designed to integrate YKK's advanced technologies, supporting both domestic demand and export-oriented markets. By benefiting from Origins by Mahindra’s infrastructure—which includes world-class facilities, a sustainability-enabled ecosystem, and strong connectivity—YKK India can ensure efficient operations and streamlined supply chains for long-term manufacturing growth.

Origins by Mahindra, Chennai is strategically situated on NH16, benefitting from its proximity to key industrial hubs within the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and the Chennai-Visakhapatnam Industrial Corridor (CVIC). This location provides strong access to critical ports and logistics infrastructure.
The integrated industrial development, part of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd., is a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan. The cluster spans approximately 600 acres. Phase one covers about 307 acres, with an additional 134 acres being added in the new phase.
