Voltas and Atomberg Join Hands to Establish Joint Venture for Manufacturing High Efficiency Room AC Compressors in India​

Voltas Limited, a leading air conditioning and engineering solutions company from the Tata Group, has signed a Binding Term Sheet with Atomberg Innovation Private Limited to establish a Joint Venture (JV). This partnership aims to manufacture high efficiency Room Air Conditioner compressors and related parts in India.

The proposed JV is set up for the development, manufacturing, and supply of Air Conditioner Compressors, focusing heavily on high energy efficiency, operational reliability, cost competitiveness, and progressive localization within the domestic market.

Atomberg Innovation Private Limited is a material subsidiary of Atomberg Technologies Limited and specializes in the design, manufacture, and supply of motors, electronic assemblies, controller systems, and related components. Voltas brings its extensive understanding of the Indian Room Air Conditioner market, manufacturing ecosystem, and supply chain capabilities, while Atomberg contributes its proprietary compressor technology, first-principles engineering, product design capabilities, and track record of innovation in energy efficient motors and control drives.

The partnership is focused on strengthening domestic manufacturing and building a competitive supply ecosystem aligned with evolving regulatory frameworks and industry standards.

Voltas will serve as an anchor customer for the Joint Venture, ensuring a stable demand base. Atomberg Innovations will function as the technology partner, contributing its innovation capabilities. The JV is structured to potentially supply Air Conditioner Compressors to other customers, fostering broader market participation and long-term competitiveness.

Mr. Mukundan Menon, Managing Director of Voltas Limited, stated that this partnership represents an important step toward building indigenous technology capability and strengthening long term supply chain resilience. He noted that combining Atomberg's technology and engineering strengths with Voltas' market knowledge, manufacturing ecosystem, and scale intends to build compressors designed specifically for India.

Similarly, Mr. Manoj Meena, Founder of Atomberg, said that this collaboration allows them to merge their deep tech capabilities in efficient motors and control drives with Voltas' extensive air conditioning expertise, manufacturing capability, and market scale to create an efficient compressor technology platform developed and manufactured in India.

The proposed transaction remains subject to the satisfactory completion of due diligence, execution of Definitive Agreements, and receipt of applicable approvals.

VOLTAS Stock Price Movement​

On Friday, Voltas Limited shares edged higher to settle at ₹1320.5, rallying after gaining 2.40% in market trading. The stock witnessed strong activity, with over 2.37 million shares traded during the session.
