Vital Chemtech Limited's subsidiary, Vital Synthesis Limited, has secured a Consolidated Consent and Authorization (CC&A) from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). This critical environmental approval underpins the continued operation of the plant located in Dahej. The consent was issued by the GPCB on June 10, 2026, granting authorization up to March 26, 2031.

The CC&A covers compliance requirements related to the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act-1974, the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act-1981, and the Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules-2016 under the Environment (Protection) Act-1986.

The approval granted to Vital Synthesis Limited for its operations at Plot No D-3/151 & 158 in Dahej covers the manufacturing of a wide range of specialized chemicals, including pesticide intermediates and specialty chemicals. The authorized products fall into three main groups: Pesticides Intermediates (Group 1), Pesticides Intermediate/Specialty Chemicals (Group 2), and Pharmaceutical Intermediates (Group 3).

Key operational parameters set forth by the GPCB include limits for resource consumption and effluent discharge quality. The total water consumption limit has been set at 249 KLD, which is broken down into industrial, domestic, and gardening usage. Total wastewater generation is limited to 164 KLD.

Focus on Waste Management and Emissions Control​

The consent order details the management of hazardous waste generated by the unit. Vital Synthesis Limited has received authorization for handling various categories of hazardous wastes, with specific annual quantities outlined in the GPCB documentation.

For example, management protocols include:

• Discarded Containers/Bags/Liners: Authorization granted for 100 MT/Year.
• ETP Sludge: Annual quantity is set at 720 MT, requiring collection and transport to a common TSDF Site.
• Recovered Solvent 2: A significant volume of 1,042,020 MT was approved for in-plant management and reuse.

Regarding air pollution control, the GPCB has specified strict standards for emissions from various sources. For instance, Stack No 1 (attached to Steam Boiler) must adhere to PM limits not exceeding 150 mg/Nm3 for PM and specific limits for SO2 and NOx.

The environmental compliance includes detailed regulations covering effluent discharge quality into CETP Dahej, requiring parameters such as pH between 6.5 and 8.5, and ensuring Suspended Solids do not exceed 300 mg/l. The consent also mandates that the unit implement a comprehensive communication plan for emergency response scenarios.
