Key Operational Highlights and Asset Performance
The results show substantial growth at Meenakshi Energy Ltd. in the first quarter, where power sales grew by 245% YoY and recorded a sequential increase of 16%.At Talwandi Sabo Thermal Plant (TSTP), the Plant Availability Factor (PAF) saw an improvement, rising to 86% for Q1 FY'27, up from 77% in the preceding quarter. TSTP's Power Purchase Agreement with the Punjab State Government compensates based on a normative plant availability of 80%, and its attainment for Q1 was above this target.
Meanwhile, the decline in power sales at Sakti Thermal Plant was attributed primarily to reduced plant availability following an incident involving a boiler on April 14, which impacted operations during the quarter. Shakti Thermal Plant, formerly Athena Power Plant, is currently temporarily shut down due to the boiler blast in unit-I since April 14, 2026.
The company continues to manage its portfolio across various operational units. Vedanta Power Limited’s current installed capacity stands at 4.2 GW, with an additional 0.6 GW under project phase for Shakti U2. The assets include a 1,980 MW plant in Mansa, Punjab; a 1,000 MW facility in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh; a 1,200 MW unit in Sakti, Chhattisgarh; and a 600 MW unit in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
The company maintains a focus on environmental stewardship through initiatives such as fly ash utilisation, biomass co-firing, and zero freshwater use, while serving Discoms nationwide through long-term partnerships.
