US Court Dismisses Federal Patent Claims Against Hexaware in Natsoft Dispute

Hexaware Technologies Limited has reported a significant update regarding patent infringement claims brought by Natsoft Corporation and its affiliate, Updraft LLC. The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois dismissed all federal patent-related claims against Hexaware and its subsidiary, Hexaware Technologies Inc., concluding that the asserted patents lacked eligibility for U.S. patent protection.

The dismissal followed the complaint filed by Natsoft Corporation alleging infringement related to nine patents spanning two patent families. The court's decision focused on a deficiency in the nature of Natsoft's patents, finding that they claimed broad, abstract ideas rather than specific, concrete inventions, rendering them ineligible under U.S. law.

As a direct result of the federal claims dismissal, the Court declined to retain jurisdiction over the related state-law claims—which include contractual and business claims—and consequently dismissed these as well without substantive adjudication at this stage. The court granted the plaintiffs an opportunity to file an amended complaint within the prescribed timeline.

Hexaware’s Position and Product Integrity

Hexaware maintained that its platforms, including Amaze®, Tensai®, and RapidX®, are products of original engineering and substantial investment, affirming that they do not infringe any Natsoft or third-party intellectual property.

According to Srikrishna Ramakarthikeyan, Executive Director & CEO at Hexaware Technologies Limited, the court's decision aligns with the company's confidence in its position. He stated that his team believes their platforms originated from internal research and years of investment by their own engineers.

The company noted that unlike Natsoft’s patents, Hexaware’s work is specific and real. Hexaware has itself secured U.S. patent protection for methods embodied in the Amaze® and Tensai® platforms, with an additional U.S. patent related to Tensai® recently allowed and expected to issue.

Operational Stability Maintained

The litigation has been assessed by the company as having caused no material change to its operations, its ability to serve customer commitments or partner programs, nor its financial position.

Hexaware Technologies Limited continues to monitor developments in this matter closely and will take appropriate actions as necessary.

HEXT Stock Price Movement

Shares of Hexaware Technologies Limited on Thursday slipped by 2.47% to settle at ₹502.25, down ₹12.75 from the previous close. The stock traded with a volume of 307,889 shares, coming close to its daily low of ₹498.
