Focus on Tourism, Sustainability and Cultural Identity
According to the official release, the project is expected to significantly enhance connectivity to major tourist attractions such as Dal Lake, Shankaracharya Temple and the Mughal Gardens. The improved infrastructure is projected to boost tourism, generate employment opportunities and stimulate investment in the region. The civil enclave will incorporate advanced water harvesting systems, maximize natural lighting to reduce energy consumption and use locally sourced eco-friendly materials to lower its carbon footprint.
Architecturally, the terminal will blend modern design with Kashmir’s cultural heritage, featuring traditional elements such as intricate woodwork and locally inspired craftsmanship. At the same time, it will prioritize operational efficiency through streamlined passenger processing areas, spacious lounges and advanced security and check-in facilities.
With the Cabinet approval in place, the expansion of the civil enclave at Srinagar International Airport is positioned as a key infrastructure initiative aimed at supporting long-term economic growth and tourism development in the Kashmir Valley.
