TVS Motor Profits Surge by 67% as Two-Wheeler Sales Breakout Fuels Record Q1 Earnings

TVS Motor Company saw a sharp rally on Tuesday after reporting spectacular first-quarter earnings for FY27. The two-wheeler maker announced that its consolidated net profit surged by 67% year-on-year (YoY). This robust performance has driven share appreciation as the company showcases strong operational efficiency and massive market acceptance across all segments.

Q1 Profit Explodes: Net Income Jumps 67% YoY

TVS Motor's consolidated net profit for the first quarter of FY27 soared to ₹1,019 crore. This figure represents a significant jump compared to the ₹610 crore reported in the corresponding period last year. The increase reflects the company’s disciplined operational management and growing market demand.

The profitability gains were coupled with a substantial rise in revenue from operations. TVS Motor's revenue grew by approximately 33.5% YoY, hitting ₹16,295.52 crore in the April-June quarter of FY27. This represents an increase from ₹12,210 crore recorded in the previous year.

Operational Strength and Margin Expansion

The company also reported its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA at ₹1,779 crore, a rise of 41% YoY. The improved profitability translated into a solid EBITDA margin of 12.8%. Total expenses increased by over 32% YoY to reach ₹14,894 crore during the quarter.

TVS Motor addressed rising input costs, noting that commodity prices witnessed a sharp upward trend during the period. Management stated that the company partially mitigated these cost increases through proactive price adjustments and intensive focus on cost optimization initiatives, including realizing scale benefits.

Record Sales Across Two and Three-Wheeler Segments

The first quarter of the financial year 2026-27 marked a period of record sales for TVS Motor. The overall two and three-wheelers saw impressive growth of 28%. Total units sold reached 1.63 million, up from 1.28 million registered in the quarter ended June 2025.

Motorcycle sales specifically grew by 19% YoY, reaching 74 lakh units compared to the 62 lakh units recorded previously. Scooters demonstrated particularly strong momentum, with sales increasing by 36% to 68 lakh units from 50 lakh units last year. Furthermore, the International Business segment reported a solid growth rate of 33%.

TVS Motor Plans Capital Raise Amid Strong Growth

Beyond the Q1 earnings, TVS Motor announced important strategic plans approved by its board of directors. The company intends to raise up to ₹1,000 crore through the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCD) and commercial papers. It also indicated that it will explore other permissible borrowing avenues as part of this capital planning.

On a stock perspective, TVS Motor shares have seen gains of around 5% in one week and 10% in one month following the results announcement. While the company has recorded marginal losses so far in 2026, its long-term performance metrics remain highly positive, having delivered 33% returns over one year and 549% returns over five years.
