
Titagarh Rail Systems Inaugurates Design and Operations Centre in West Bengal
Kolkata: Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) inaugurated its new Design and Operations Centre at its Passenger Rail Systems (PRS) facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal. The event marked a significant advancement in the company’s journey to bolster its internal design, engineering, and operational capabilities for passenger rail systems.
The centre is positioned as a hub for advanced engineering, design-led innovation, and technology development, supporting TRSL's expanding portfolio across passenger rail systems. The inauguration underscores Titagarh's dedication to cultivating world-class rail manufacturing capacity in India originating from Bengal, thereby strengthening West Bengal’s role within the nation’s evolving rail manufacturing ecosystem.
The event was attended by Shri Tapas Roy, Hon'ble Minister of Industry & Commerce for the Government of West Bengal, and Shri Arjun Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Labour & Transport for the Government of West Bengal.
Ministers commented on the importance of advanced domestic manufacturing in the state. Shri Tapas Roy remarked that he was "truly amazed" to witness metro coaches and trains being manufactured from scratch in Bengal. He noted that Titagarh’s trains are supplied to cities including Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Patna, and Mumbai, including next generation modern Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains. He expressed confidence that Kolkata Metro would soon join this list, stating that the work undertaken by Titagarh aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat and the revival of Bengal.
Shri Arjun Singh added that the Government of West Bengal is committed to creating a favorable environment for industrial growth under the guidance of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari Ji. However, he stressed that driving industrial development rests with industry itself, stating that enterprises like Titagarh play a vital role in shaping Bengal’s industrial future through partnership between government and industry.
Commenting on the milestone, Shri Umesh Chowdhary, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, expressed enthusiasm for the renewed focus of the Government of West Bengal on accelerating its industrial and economic growth. He stated that the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for a Viksit Bharat aligns closely with Titagarh’s commitment to advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities in Bengal for India and the world.
Shri Chowdhary added that the new centre represents another key milestone in strengthening TRSL's design, engineering, and innovation capacities. He affirmed that Titagarh is fully committed to contributing to Bengal's manufacturing legacy and working alongside the government towards its revival and industrialization under Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari Ji’s vision of Sonar Bangla.
