Tata Technologies Launches 4th Edition of InnoVent Hackathon Focused on 'AI at the Edge'
Tata Technologies has launched the fourth edition of its flagship engineering innovation hackathon, InnoVent-27. This year, the initiative is being significantly enhanced through a collaboration with Emerson’s Test & Measurement business and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The contest aims to provide engineering students across India with an advanced platform to develop innovative solutions centered on the theme 'AI at the Edge'.The hackathon challenges participants to leverage localized, real-time intelligence. The core focus is on developing AI solutions for Automotive, Industrial Heavy Machinery, and Aerospace sectors, driving next-generation advancements in these industries. Submissions may cover applications such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomous systems, predictive maintenance, smart manufacturing, digital twins, intelligent inspection, and energy efficient mobility solutions.
The competition is open to 3rd and 4th year engineering students. Reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Tata Technologies actively encourages participation from teams that include women engineers and differently abled members.
To support the scaling of student innovations, participants who advance through the rigorous evaluation process—which includes initial concept screening, virtual Proof of Concept (PoC) presentations, and final prototype live demonstrations—are incentivized with several opportunities. The top-performing teams are eligible for job opportunities at Tata Technologies and cumulative cash prizes valued at INR 4.5 lakhs.
Participants will also receive access to AWS cloud computing services and NI test & measurement tools from Emerson. Additionally, all teams reaching the PoC stage will be awarded participation certificates, while winners stand a chance to secure sponsor awards such as the Breakthrough Idea Award and Best Prototype Award.
Komal Chhabra, SVP - Strategy, Marketing & Corporate Development at Tata Technologies, stated that InnoVent-27 is a commitment to nurturing talent by bringing together bright engineering students with industry-leading partners. She added that 'AI at the Edge is not just a theme, but the direction in which automotive, aerospace, and industrial engineering is headed.'
Shitendra Bhattacharya, Country Head & Director at Emerson Test and Measurement, highlighted the importance of validation when integrating AI onto the edge. He noted that Emerson’s software defined test and measurement solutions are designed to help innovators transition their code from virtual simulations into rugged, real world hardware environments.
Kunal Matt, Enterprise Account Manager for Conglomerates at Amazon Web Services (AWS), emphasized bridging the gap between heavy edge devices and scalable cloud support. He said, 'Combining Cloud Computing Services with Edge AI are redefining modern industrial sectors. We are proud to provide the cloud support and technical guidance needed to help engineering students build, deploy, and scale intelligent applications that will transform industries.'
