The Tata Power Company Limited has completed the acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Ryapte Power Transmission Limited (RPTL), a specialized project special purpose vehicle (SPV). The transaction, finalized on July 30, 2026, is aimed at establishing and operating the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis for providing transmission services.The acquisition involves purchasing the entire equity stake in RPTL for ₹ 10.87 crore. The scope of work for the project includes constructing approximately a 250 km line route. This extensive construction involves several components, including:
- A 400 kV D/C line running from Ryapte AIS Sub-station to the proposed 400/220 kV Doddathaggalli GIS S/s.
- A 400 kV D/C line connecting the existing Kolar S/s to the proposed Doddathaggalli GIS S/s.
- A 220 kV D/C line extending from the proposed Doddathaggalli GIS S/s to the 220 kV existing substations of Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura in Karnataka.
- A 220 kV Underground cable connecting Doddathaggalli GIS S/s to Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura s/s.
Furthermore, the project scope covers establishing significant electrical infrastructure at two key locations:
1. At Ryapte in Tumkur District, the company is establishing a 5x500 MVA, 400/220 kV S/s along with two 400 kV Bus Reactors (2x125MVAr).
2. Near Hosakote, the project includes establishing a 3X500 MVA, 400/220kV GIS sub-station at Doddathaggalli alongside two 400 kV Bus Reactors (2x125 MVAr).
The acquisition process concluded on July 30, 2026. The Schedule Date of Commercial Operation (SCOD) for the SPV is set 30 months from the date of this acquisition.
