Tata Elxsi and SCTIMST Forge Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Healthcare Innovation​

Bengaluru, India, July 27, 2026 - Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) and Tata Elxsi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing next-generation healthcare solutions. SCTIMST, an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, partnered with Tata Elxsi, a global leader in design and technology services, to advance innovation across Indian and global markets.

The MoU was finalized at SCTIMST in the presence of key leaders from both institutions, including Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director of SCTIMST, and Manoj Raghavan, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Elxsi. The collaboration unites SCTIMST's profound knowledge in cardiovascular sciences, neurosciences, biotechnology, and clinical sciences with Tata Elxsi’s expertise in product engineering, AI, design, and digital technologies.

The combined effort will focus on opportunities across various healthcare sectors, including medical devices, diagnostics, medical imaging, biomedical engineering, and digital health solutions.

This partnership is designed to function beyond traditional industry-academia engagements. It establishes a cohesive innovation and engineering environment, bringing together clinicians, specialist researchers, advanced laboratories, prototyping infrastructure, and product engineering capabilities into a single collaborative ecosystem. This structure will aid MedTech companies in the efficient development, validation, and scaling of new products, while also strengthening expertise in toxicology and biocompatibility.

The MoU provides a framework for joint research, technology development initiatives, academic engagement, and intellectual property creation through specific projects. Initial work is expected to identify high-potential opportunities for collaborative development.

Sreevatsa Sahasranaman, Senior Vice President and Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences at Tata Elxsi, stated that the partnership aligns complementary strengths in healthcare, technology, and product development.
