Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited, India's largest standalone health insurer, announced robust financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27). The company posted a Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹550 Crores, marking a 25% year-on-year increase. Underwriting Profit saw a sharp rise, reaching ₹111 Crores compared to ₹16 Crores in the corresponding period of Q1 FY26.

The strong performance was attributed to healthy premium growth, sustained operating efficiencies, and disciplined underwriting practices across the organization.

Key Financial and Operational Highlights (Q1 FY27)​

During the quarter, Star Health recorded Gross Written Premium (GWP) of ₹4,287 Crores, representing a 19% year-on-year increase on a Reported 1/N basis. The Fresh Retail Health GWP stood at ₹730 Crores, showing a significant 37% YoY growth.

The company also reported a Normalised PAT of ₹386 Crores, representing a 44% YoY increase from the ₹267 Crores reported in Q1 FY26.

Focus on Digital and Customer Excellence​

Star Health maintained a strong focus on digital transformation and operational excellence during Q1 FY27. The company settled 9.6 lakh claims during the quarter, and the Retail Claims Settlement Ratio improved by 1%, reaching 91%. Persistency also rose by 3% year-on-year to 102%. Furthermore, the Company Net Promoter Score (NPS) increased by 12 points, standing at 65 as of June 2026.

The proprietary digital D2C Channel contributed 16% of fresh retail sales, which showed a remarkable 142% YoY growth. Reflecting successful digital adoption, 97% of fresh policies were sourced digitally. The Star Health Customer App registered strong traction, accumulating 14.7 million downloads and over 1.5 million monthly active users.

The insurer's technology-led capabilities were further strengthened through ATOM PRO, an AI-enabled platform designed for business acquisition. This platform provides advisors with features such as intelligent product recommendations, instant quotations, policy comparisons, and network hospital search. Recognition was noted when ATOM Pro was honored by The Economic Times in the BFSI FinNext Awards 2026 under 'InsurTech Product Excellence of the Year'.

Distribution Network Status​

As of June 30, 2026, Star Health maintained a robust multi-channel distribution network. The company operates over 900 branch offices and has engaged more than 8.5 lakh agents. Its operational scale includes managing a network of 16,000+ hospitals and employing 18,500+ employees.

Commenting on the quarterly performance, Mr. Anand Roy, CEO & Managing Director of Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited, stated that the company's results reflect strong fundamentals and consistent execution. He emphasized that sustainable growth, coupled with improvements in core underwriting profitability and sustained operating discipline, provided a strong start to the year.

Mr. Roy added that investments in digital capabilities, AI-led innovation, and the distribution network continue to strengthen the ability of the organization to serve customers efficiently and at scale. "As health insurance adoption deepens in India, we remain committed to building a resilient, digital-first organisation," he said, concluding that the company is focused on creating long-term value for both policyholders and shareholders while maintaining prudent risk selection.

STARHEALTH Stock Price Movement​

Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited shares rallied today, gaining 3.05% to close at ₹598.85. The equity traded within a narrow range of ₹580.3 to ₹603.2, with 993,642 shares accounted for in the trading volume.
