SpiceJet has announced a significant strategic move to bolster its fleet strength ahead of the busy travel season. The carrier is set to induct three Airbus A320 aircraft through a damp lease agreement, bolstering capacity planning and operational resilience. Furthermore, SpiceJet has successfully brought a previously grounded Boeing 737 MAX back into commercial service, adding immediate value to its available network.

Expanding Fleet with New Airbus A320 Inductions​

The Gurugram-based airline confirmed on Monday that it has finalized lease agreements for the three Airbus A320 planes. These new additions are scheduled to join the SpiceJet fleet in July 2026, providing a steady expansion of the carrier's assets.

A damp lease arrangement was confirmed by the company. This structure involves the aircraft owner supplying the plane along with essential services like maintenance and insurance. The airline utilizes its own crew while operating these contracted flights.

Reactivating Boeing 737 MAX Boosts Immediate Capacity​

Adding a crucial immediate operational benefit, SpiceJet has also successfully reintegrated a grounded Boeing 737 MAX into active service. This specific aircraft has already resumed carrying commercial passengers since it was reactivated by the airline.

The return of the 737 MAX immediately increases the carrier's current available capacity. The simultaneous induction of new planes and the reactivation of existing assets marks a concerted effort by the airline.

Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, commented on these moves in a statement.
