Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL), an integrated metal producing company, has released its consolidated sales figures for June 2026 and the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027. The results cover various key business segments, including Stainless Steel, Aluminium Foil, Pellet, Speciality Alloys, Carbon Steel, CR Coils/Sheets, HR Tubes/Pipes, Sponge Iron, and Pig Iron.

SMEL operates across both intermediates and final products within the steel value chain and maintains a diversified product mix. The company is noted as one of the largest producers of Ferro Alloys and ranks among the top players in terms of pellet capacity and the fourth-largest entity in sponge iron capacity in India. SMEL has demonstrated a consistent record of profitability since the commencement of its operations in Fiscal 2005.

Segment Highlights​

Stainless Steel​

In the Stainless Steel segment, sales volumes showed a strong increase year-on-year (YoY), though quarterly volume declined. For June FY27, quantity stood at 505 MT, up 40.21% compared to FY26. Realizations for this product increased by 23.15% YoY, reaching Rs 1,76,588 per MT in June FY27 (up from Rs 1,43,394 in FY26).

Quarterly performance showed volumes decreasing by 14.80%, while realizations climbed by 18.04%. Month-on-month analysis indicated a volume increase of 7.81% but a realization decrease of 2.63%.

Aluminium Foil​

The Aluminium Foil segment saw significant growth in both volume and realization on a YoY basis. June FY27 volumes reached 2,151 units, marking a 20.68% increase compared to the corresponding month in FY26. Realization also increased by 39.32% YoY, with the average realization reported at Rs 503,400 per MT.

For Q1, volumes stood at 5,606 units (QoQ change of 0.86%), while realizations rose by 18.65% QoQ to reach Rs 4,83,467 per MT. Month-on-month results in June saw a volume increase of 37.07%, accompanied by a realization increase of 1.64%.

Pellet​

In the Pellet segment, volumes witnessed substantial growth on a YoY basis, registering a 92.26% increase compared to FY26 (80,913 units). June’s volume was 155,563 units. Realizations for the product grew by 2.21% on a YoY basis, with an average realization of Rs 8,539 per MT in June FY27.

Quarterly figures indicated a volume increase of 40.50%, though realizations decreased by 5.22% QoQ. Month-on-month performance showed volumes rising by 38.89%, while realizations fell by 5.61%.

Speciality Alloys​

Volumes in the Speciality Alloys segment increased by 0.75% YoY, with a corresponding rise in realization of 21.70% YoY. June volume reached 16,888 units, and the average realization was Rs 1,09,775 per MT.

Month-on-month results showed volumes increasing by 4.24%, while realizations increased significantly by 160%. Quarterly performance saw a decrease of 7.08% in volume but an increase of 7.13% in realization QoQ.

Carbon Steel​

For Carbon Steel, June FY27 sales volume was 148,711 units, up 16.53% YoY compared to the FY26 figure (127,615 units). The average realization stood at Rs 43,338 per MT, showing a 0.56% increase on a YoY basis.

Month-on-month volume increased by 8.28%, yet realizations decreased by 5.98%. On a quarterly basis, sales volumes saw an 11.02% decrease, while realization increased by 0.89%.

CR Coil/CR Sheets​

The CR Coil/CR Sheets segment recorded a significant volume increase in June FY27, reaching 18,203 units (up 53.46% YoY). The average realization was Rs 89,172 per MT, reflecting a 20.53% rise on a YoY basis.

Month-on-month volumes increased by 2,045%, and realizations rose by 0.91%. Although quarterly volume decreased by 0.60%, the realization saw a robust increase of 10.67% QoQ. The company noted that Phase II of its Colour Coated Steel Plant was commissioned in April 2026, adding 0.15 MTPA capacity to the facility.

HR Tube/Pipe​

In the HR Tube/Pipe segment, volumes experienced a decrease of 49.94% YoY, with June volume being 14 units compared to 287 units in FY26. The realization rate increased by 14.14% on a YoY basis, achieving Rs 57,106 per MT in June FY27.

Month-on-month sales volumes increased by 0.57%, while realizations declined by 3.56%. Quarterly results indicated volume decreased by 44.23%, although realization increased by 11.47% QoQ.

Sponge Iron​

Sponge Iron sales showed a decline of 28.28% in sale volume on a YoY basis, while realizations were up by 4.40%. The Q1 volume reached 168,301 units, compared to 2,09,311 units in Q2 of the previous period.

Month-on-month volumes increased by 21.36%, but realizations dropped by 8.52%. On a quarterly basis, realizations showed an increase of 129%.

Pig Iron​

Pig Iron sales volume registered a dramatic increase of 156.52% YoY for June FY27 (95,508 units compared to 37,32 units in FY26). The realization rate also rose by 19.22% on a YoY basis, with the average realization at Rs 38,780 per MT.

Month-on-month volume decreased by 4.82%, and realizations decreased slightly by 0.63%. Quarterly results showed a volume increase of 42.11%, while realization increased by 5.09% QoQ.

Company Strength​

SMEL is categorized as one of the least leveraged steel companies in India. The company holds ratings from CRISIL AA+ (Stable) for Long Term Bank Facilities and A1+ for Medium Term Bank Facilities.
