The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a detailed status report regarding the processing of applications received under its Citizen's Charter for June 2026. The data underscores the institution's high level of operational efficiency, noting that an overwhelming majority of requests were handled within prescribed timelines. Overall Performance Metrics Under the Citizen's Charter​

The report details a robust intake managed throughout the month. During June 2026, RBI received 19,177 applications. These figures align with 2,554 applications that were pending at the start of the month. In total, 21,190 applications underwent review and processing.

Processing efficiency stands as a key highlight. A total of 18,577 applications were successfully processed during the month. Of these, a remarkable 18,563 (which equates to 99.9%) were completed within the stipulated timeline. Only 14 applications fell outside this timeline requirement, representing 0.1% of the total volume processed.

Functional Throughput and Application Status​

Among these specialized areas, Currency Management saw a total of 8,021 applications received. The function successfully processed 7,194 cases within the timeline, while 6 fell beyond the deadline.

Specifically, 2,595 applications are still pending within the timeline category (representing 99.3% of the overall pending backlog), while 18 applications fall into the "Beyond timeline" category at the close of the reporting period.

Key areas like Banker to Banks and Governments managed a volume of 8,647 applications, all of which were processed within the timeline, indicating full adherence in that segment. Payment and Settlement Systems received 28 applications, processing 14 on time and having 12 remain pending at month-end.

Evolution and Scope of the Citizen's Charter​

The RBI continuously reviews and updates its services covered under the Citizen’s Charter to ensure comprehensive public service delivery. Based on a recent internal review, fourteen new services have been integrated into the scope of the charter. Furthermore, the timelines for four existing services have been modified following this diligent review process.

These continuous refinements mean that the number of services falling under the purview of the Citizen's Charter now totals 213, demonstrating the RBI’s commitment to expanding and maintaining high standards across all operational domains.
