Financial Performance Snapshot
While revenue showed significant momentum across core businesses and new initiatives, EBITDA stood at INR 28 crore in Q1FY27, compared to INR 45 crore in Q1FY26, reflecting a decline of 38% YoY. This margin compression was attributed to upfront investments totaling approximately INR 18 crore, incurred for implementing prestigious RFP-led mandates. Furthermore, margins were impacted by cost inflation resulting from ongoing geopolitical tensions which led to higher procurement costs for technology hardware and other key inputs. However, the company maintained confidence in its future profitability. On a normalized basis, excluding these strategic investments, EBITDA for the quarter would have been approximately INR 46 crore, translating to an EBITDA margin of 17.2%. Protean stated that it is confident these investments will begin contributing meaningfully to revenue streams in forthcoming quarters.
