
POWERGRID Unchahar Transmission Appoints CEO K Nagraj Bhat
POWERGRID Unchahar Transmission Limited (PUTL), the Investment Manager for POWERGRID Infrastructure Investment Trust (PGInvIT), announced the appointment of Shri K Nagraj Bhat as its Chief Executive Officer. The decision was made by the company's Board of Directors in a meeting held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.Shri K Nagraj Bhat, who currently holds the position of Chief General Manager at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), assumed the role as CEO of PUTL effective immediately.
The appointment brings over thirty years of experience in the power transmission sector to the leadership role. Shri Bhat possesses a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Shri Govind Ram Sekesaria Institute of Technology, Indore and an MBA in Finance & Marketing from Nagpur University. He joined POWERGRID in 1993 as part of the First batch EET.
Throughout his tenure at the organization since 1993, Shri Bhat has made substantial contributions across various domains including Commercials, Operations and Maintenance of Substations, Project Implementation and Monitoring, Corporate Planning, Contracts and Materials, CTUIL, and CSR.
Key achievements under his purview include arranging Multilateral Financing for POWERGRID from institutions such as ADB, World Bank, and KfW. He was also instrumental in the strategic planning process, contributing to both Five Year and Annual plans of POWERGRID, alongside the successful commissioning of various Power Transmission Projects.
In a recent capacity, Shri Bhat was involved in an initiative under CSR by POWERGRID, focused on developing trained manpower resources at SDC Malda for the power transmission sector. This effort is aimed at meeting the Government of India's ambitious targets for developing Power Transmission Infrastructure over the next five years.
