Ola Electric Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Results, Driving Market Share Gains and Maintaining Gross Margins Amid Cost Pressures

Ola Electric Mobility Limited reported strong performance in its first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (Q1 FY27), driven by significant growth in orders and deliveries within the automotive segment. The company successfully increased its market share while maintaining industry-leading gross margins despite rising commodity costs.

The Q1 FY27 results marked a transition toward disciplined scaling for Ola Electric, with the company recording substantial growth across key operational metrics. Orders surged to 44,071 units, representing a 96% increase quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). Deliveries also saw robust growth, rising to approximately 39,192 units, which is up 94% QoQ.

In terms of financial performance, the Automotive revenue from operations reached approximately ₹ 455 crore, a 72% increase QoQ. The company managed to sustain an Auto gross margin of 30.5%, reflecting product economics and industry leadership in this metric, even as commodity costs for Electric Two-Wheelers (E2W) rose by approximately 11%.

Operational Discipline and Market Penetration

The growth trajectory was further reinforced by a marked increase in market share. Ola registrations grew 97% QoQ, elevating the company's market share from 5.1% in Q4 FY26 to 8.4% in Q1 FY27. Sales momentum was broadly distributed across all regions: the West saw approximately 61% growth, while the North and South each grew around 54%, and the East experienced a 34% increase.

The company is also expanding its footprint beyond scooters through the Roadster segment, reporting that bike deliveries increased by 67% QoQ in Q1 FY27.

Cost Control and Strategic Investments

Ola Electric continued to execute on cost optimization initiatives, reducing consolidated operating expenses by 22% QoQ to ₹ 333 crore. This effort contributes to a structurally stronger operational foundation for future scaling.

The company successfully executed a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) of ₹ 780 crore, which saw a 56% oversubscription and provides financial flexibility to support disciplined growth.

Strategically, the company is deepening its vertical integration by deploying both NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) and LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells across its portfolio. The 46100 LFP cell has received BIS certification, enabling its use in vehicles below 4 kWh to support improved affordability in the mass-market scooter segment.

Future Growth Engines

Beyond immediate sales, Ola Electric is focusing on long-term revenue streams and advanced technologies. Lifecycle monetisation of their installed base (exceeding one million customers) is a key focus. The company plans for service revenue from parts and repairs to grow from approximately ₹ 130 crore in FY26 to between ₹ 400–500 crore by FY28, targeting an approximate gross margin profile of 65%.

In the Cell business, energy storage is emerging as a major demand driver. The company is launching Mahashakti on August 15 and recently signed an MoU with Axis Energy for up to 20 GWh of battery storage deployment by 2032. Furthermore, various MoUs have been established across defence and UAV applications, broadening the application base for in-house cells beyond EVs and conventional energy storage solutions.
