Ola Electric Jumps 31%: Analyst Weighs Upside Potential Against Execution Risks
Ola Electric Mobility shares have seen a significant recovery over the last six months, with stock value surging by 31% from its March low and nearly doubling. The company is currently trading at around Rs 41 apiece, having witnessed substantial fluctuations since its market debut in August 2024. Analysts remain divided on the near-term trajectory, highlighting that while operational momentum has improved, caution regarding execution risks remains warranted.Stock Performance and Recent Catalysts
The shares of Bhavish Aggarwal’s company experienced a dramatic reversal after previously rallying sharply to hit a lifetime high of Rs 157.40 earlier this year. The stock then fell precipitously to a lifetime low in March 2026, valued at Rs 22.25—nearly one-seventh of its peak value.Despite the volatility, Ola Electric shares have managed to gain 10% so far in 2026. This resurgence has been fueled by strong sales data and PLI certification, boosting confidence among investors in the EV scooter maker. The company currently boasts a market capitalization exceeding Rs 19,175 crore.
A key recent catalyst was the signing of an MoU with Axis Energy. This agreement involves deploying up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) by 2032, providing a strategic boost to the company’s profile.
Fundamental Outlook and Long-Term Potential
Vinit Bolinjkar, Head of Research at Ventura, maintains a ‘Hold’ stance on Ola Electric. He notes that while the near-term sentiment has improved, the risk-reward ratio remains evenly balanced given current market levels. The analyst points to non-auto optionality, particularly grid-scale BESS and aggressive cost rationalization, as factors supporting the stock's momentum. The bullish case for Ola is underpinned by clean energy ecosystem expansion, in-house cell manufacturing capabilities, and valuation de-risking efforts.
However, the bear case remains anchored by significant risks, including incumbent competition, execution challenges, and cash burn. Bolinjkar stated that Ola Electric is a long-term beneficiary of India’s EV transition due to its integrated technology approach. Yet, he cautioned that further stock upside hinges on visible improvements in operating performance and profitability, not merely sector growth.
Technical Analysis: Navigating Downtrends and Support Bands
From a technical standpoint, Hitesh Rathi, Technical Analyst at Angel One, notes the persistent downtrend since the market debut, which has seen nearly 70% of shareholder value eroded. The stock continues to battle the strong short-term resistance established in the Rs 45–47 zone.Crucially, Rathi highlighted the formation of a bullish 100% pole from the Rs 22–20 zone. This technical formation signals the presence of a meaningful long-term support band and indicates buying interest at those lower levels.
Despite this emerging support structure, the recent recovery is currently viewed as lacking follow-through momentum. Rathi advises that fresh investments should be approached with caution until the stock successfully reclaims and sustains above the Rs 50 mark, thereby invalidating the prevailing short-term bearish structure.
