BVR Subrahmanyam Concludes Three Year Term

BVR Subrahmanyam, a 1987 batch IAS officer from the Chhattisgarh cadre, has completed his three year tenure as CEO of NITI Aayog.

With over three decades in public service, Subrahmanyam held several senior positions across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu and Kashmir. In Jammu and Kashmir, he served as Chief Secretary, while in Chhattisgarh he worked as Principal Secretary.

At the Centre, he held the post of Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and also served in the Prime Minister’s Office. He also worked with the World Bank during his career.

During his tenure at NITI Aayog, Subrahmanyam focused on driving policy reforms, particularly strengthening state level governance and advancing digital transformation aligned with India’s development vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Role of NITI Aayog in India’s Policy Framework

Established on January 1, 2015, NITI Aayog replaced the Planning Commission as the government’s premier policy think tank.

The institution promotes cooperative federalism and follows a bottom up development approach, actively engaging state governments in policy formulation to achieve national development goals.

With Chhibber taking on the additional charge, continuity in policy monitoring and institutional functioning is expected at the apex policy body.
