Molbio Diagnostics IPO Set for Stellar Listing After Record Demand; GMP Hits 20% Premium

Molbio Diagnostics is poised for a potentially significant listing after the successful conclusion of its highly subscribed Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company's Rs 940-crore offering, which ran from August 10 to August 12, saw overwhelming demand across all investor categories. This strong market reception positions Molbio for an anticipated high-value debut on the exchanges.

IPO Subscription Highlights and Demand Analysis

The IPO garnered immense interest, achieving a total subscription of 70.26 times by the closing date on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) spearheaded the demand, subscribing their portion at an impressive 186.39 times. The Non-Institutional Investor (NII) category followed suit, receiving bids equivalent to 49.80 times. Retail investors also participated robustly, with their tranche subscribed at 12.96 times.

Grey Market Premium Points Towards Near ₹961 Listing Price

Market indicators suggest that the listing price could significantly exceed the issue band. According to tracking platforms like InvestorGain and IPO Watch, Molbio Diagnostics shares were trading at a grey market premium (GMP) of Rs 154 over the upper limit of the price band. With the price band set between Rs 768 and Rs 807 per equity share, this GMP translates into an estimated listing value of around Rs 961.

IPO Structure: Fresh Issue vs Offer For Sale

The total IPO proceeds are structured across two components: a fresh issue totaling Rs 200 crore and an Offer for Sale (OFS) amounting to 91.66 lakh shares. The OFS carries an estimated value of around Rs 739.7 crore, handled by existing shareholders. Molbio Diagnostics is planning strategic use of the funds raised from the fresh issue.

Allocation of IPO Proceeds and Future Plans

A significant portion of the new capital infusion will be dedicated to growth and infrastructure development. Molbio Diagnostics plans to dedicate Rs 105.5 crore toward establishing a research and development facility and a Centre of Excellence through its subsidiary, Bigtec. Additional funds totaling Rs 72.2 crore are earmarked for purchasing essential plant, machinery, and equipment for manufacturing facilities planned in Goa and Visakhapatnam.

Key Anchor Investors Include Goldman Sachs and IFIC

Prior to the public issue, Molbio Diagnostics successfully raised Rs 281.5 crore from anchor investors. These allocations included global players such as Goldman Sachs, which invested Rs 30 crore, alongside the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and BlackRock Global Funds, each contributing Rs 20 crore.

Domestic Mutual Funds Secure Major Anchor Allocation

Domestic mutual funds played a crucial role in stabilizing the initial investment round. The company allotted 23.54 lakh shares to nine domestic mutual funds through 19 schemes. These specialized investors included HDFC Mutual Fund and Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company, among others. Additionally, 2.65 lakh shares worth Rs 21.44 crore were allotted to ten life insurance companies.
