Maharashtra Textiles Sector Surges: ₹167 Crores Invested Under Boosted PLI Scheme

The Ministry of Textiles is actively overseeing the implementation of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme across India. This scheme is designed to significantly boost the textile sector by promoting investment, improving manufacturing capacities, and encouraging value addition in specialized product segments such as MMF Apparel and Technical Textiles. The initiative aims to enhance the overall competitiveness of the domestic textile industry.

PLI Scheme Revamp Fuels MSME Participation

To make the PLI Scheme more appealing to prospective investors, key modifications were introduced in October 2025. These changes included expanding the range of eligible notified products by adding 17 new HSN codes for MMF Apparel and Fabrics. The Ministry also simplified eligibility criteria, relaxing the requirement for setting up new companies to avail benefits.

Furthermore, the incentive structure was adjusted substantially. The minimum threshold criteria for investment was reduced by 50%. Additionally, the incremental turnover criterion for receiving incentives was lowered from 25% to 10%, stimulating wider sector participation.

MSME Sector Sees Significant Uptick in Applications

The Ministry has taken proactive measures to ensure comprehensive awareness of the Scheme's recent revisions across all industry stakeholders. The application portal was reopened until March 31, 2026, accepting new applications following these updates. This focused effort led to a strong response from Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In Round 3 of the scheme, nearly two-thirds of the applications received saw MSME participation increase significantly, with 65 out of the 96 total applications pertaining to the MSME sector.

Investment Metrics Show Growth in Maharashtra

As of March 31, 2026, data from the Ministry indicates a robust performance for textile companies in Maharashtra under the PLI Scheme. A total of 24 companies in the state are approved beneficiaries out of 170 nationally. These enterprises have collectively injected investment amounting to ₹167.51 crores into the local economy.

These investments have generated significant economic activity, as reflected by a total reported turnover of ₹177.75 crores. The industrial output has also supported substantial employment generation, with a combined total of 904 persons directly employed across the listed companies in Maharashtra.

Key Corporate Contributions Highlighted

The data showcases various high-impact textile players contributing to the growth metrics. Spica Industries Private Limited recorded an investment of ₹76.37 crores and generated a turnover of ₹177.75 crores, employing 640 people. Microtex Processors Private Limited made an investment of ₹91.02 crores in Kolhapur.

Other registered companies include Indorama Venture Yarns Pvt Ltd from Nagpur and Fibrevault Nonwovens Private Limited based in Pune.
