Mumbai, January 8, 2026: Larsen & Toubro Limited (BSE: 500510, NSE: LT) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Indian Army to support the sustenance, overhaul, and upgradation of in-service Pinaka Multi-Rocket Launcher Systems, strengthening long-term lifecycle management of a key indigenous artillery platform.
Under the partnership, Larsen & Toubro has secured a supply order to undertake overhaul, modernisation, and obsolescence management of Pinaka systems currently deployed with the Indian Army. The initiative brings together a domestic original equipment manufacturer and the Army’s technical corps to enhance operational availability and modernisation of frontline artillery regiments.
Lifecycle-Based Sustenance Framework
The programme focuses on managing ageing components, upgrading critical sub-systems, and providing sustained technical and engineering support to Army Base Workshops. The collaboration aims to shift Pinaka maintenance from conventional practices to a structured, lifecycle-based sustenance and upgrade model, improving reliability and readiness over the long term.As part of execution, the 510 Army Base Workshop will carry out overhaul and upgrade of key electronics and systems, leveraging its domain expertise. Larsen & Toubro will support the programme through supply of critical spares, modernisation support for sub-systems, and continued technical assistance and quality oversight.
Phased Implementation Approach
In the initial phase, Larsen & Toubro and the 510 Army Base Workshop will jointly undertake a pilot overhaul of the Pinaka Launcher and Battery Command Post. Upon successful completion of the pilot, the remaining systems will be upgraded by the Army workshop, with Larsen & Toubro continuing to provide spares, technical support, and quality assurance.The collaboration is expected to act as a reference model for lifecycle management and upgrade programmes across other defence platforms, reinforcing closer industry–Army cooperation in sustaining indigenous defence systems.
