Lalithaa Jewellery Mart IPO: Growth Surge Driven by Strong Financials—Is It Right for High-Risk Investors?

Lalithaa Jewellery Mart is poised to raise a significant capital infusion through its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company plans to raise ₹1,200 crore via a fresh issue to fund necessary capital expenditure. Additionally, the IPO will see an Offer For Sale (OFS) component raising another ₹500 crore.

This move comes as Lalithaa continues its steady expansion and operational improvements across key markets in South India. The company serves customers with gold, silver, and diamond jewellery, leveraging its strong regional presence to drive financial growth.

Company Profile and Geographic Footprint

Incorporated in 1985, the retailer operates under the trusted brand name 'Lalithaa'. It boasts a network of 61 stores spread across 51 cities. These locations are concentrated primarily within Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Puducherry.

The business strategy is localized yet robustly executed. About 92% of Lalithaa's revenue stream comes from gold jewellery. A significant part of its market penetration is in smaller towns; as of FY26, 45 out of the 61 stores were situated in Tier II and Tier III cities, contributing a substantial 60.3% to total revenue.

Financial Performance Exhibits Robust Growth Momentum

The company's financials indicate a period of accelerated growth. Revenue from operations saw an annual jump of 22.1%, reaching ₹25,023.9 crore by FY26. Net profit demonstrated even stronger resilience, surging 67.5% annually to ₹1,009.8 crore over the same period (FY24 to FY26).

Operational efficiency has improved significantly. The EBITDA margin rose to 6.7% in FY26, up from 4.1% in FY24. This improved operational performance compares favorably against its peer group's range of 5.7-20%.

Store and Efficiency Metrics Comparison with Peers

Lalithaa exhibits strong efficiency metrics compared to the industry landscape. Revenue per store grew impressively to ₹410.2 crore from ₹316.8 crore over FY24-26. This metric remains well above the peer range of ₹42 crore to ₹138 crore.

Furthermore, revenue generated per square foot (sq ft) increased to ₹3.8 lakh in FY26, up from ₹2.9 lakh in FY24. This places Lalithaa near the higher end of the peer range, which spans from ₹1.4 lakh to ₹4.5 lakh.

Valuation and Investment Consideration

The current valuation positions Lalithaa competitively within the market. Based on its post-IPO equity and net profit for FY26, the company is valued at a Price-to-Earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 11. This valuation sits at the lower end of the P/E range provided by peers like Senco Gold, Kalyan Jewellers India, and Thangamayil Jewellery, whose range spans from 9 to 46.

The management structure is also evolving, as the promoter group's stake is projected to fall from 97.7% to 82.9% following the completion of the IPO. Given these factors, the IPO may be considered suitable for investors with a high-risk appetite seeking long-term growth opportunities.
