L&T Vyoma and Fortanix Partner with NVIDIA to Advance Sovereign Confidential Computing in India

Larsen & Toubro Vyoma, L&T's next-generation sovereign AI cloud and digital infrastructure business, has entered a strategic partnership with Fortanix Inc. and leverages NVIDIA technology. This collaboration aims to jointly deliver secure, sovereign software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings tailored for enterprises and government organizations across India.

The alliance addresses the critical need for data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and runtime protection as AI adoption accelerates, particularly within highly regulated sectors such as banking, financial services, healthcare, and government.

Under this partnership, L&T Vyoma will supply sovereign AI infrastructure, including necessary compute and networking capacity. Fortanix will focus on securing the data and AI workloads by integrating NVIDIA Confidential Computing technology. The combined effort ensures that organizations can adopt advanced AI and modern data services securely, guaranteeing that sensitive data remains protected and compliant within India's borders.

Commenting on the significance of this partnership, Prashant Chiranjive Jain, Managing Director at Larsen & Toubro Vyoma, stated that it empowers organizations to harness AI with confidence. He emphasized that the partnership ensures data remains protected within national boundaries while adhering to high standards of security and compliance, supporting India's digital economy foundation.

Anand Kashyap, Co-founder and CEO of Fortanix Inc., noted that while AI adoption is rising, businesses face challenges balancing innovation with data sovereignty and security. He added that the collaboration brings together trusted infrastructure and Confidential Computing capabilities to enable enterprises in India to use AI without exposing sensitive intellectual property.

Justin Boitano, Vice President for Enterprise AI Products at NVIDIA, highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards for data sovereignty and security across regulated industries as they scale advanced AI models and agents. He confirmed that integrating NVIDIA Confidential Computing with L&T Vyoma's sovereign infrastructure and Fortanix's security platform creates a trusted foundation for mission-critical workloads in India.

Securing Data In Use

The partnership addresses the crucial vulnerability during data processing. Traditional security measures protect data while it is at rest or in transit, but Confidential Computing secures the data in use through hardware-based Trusted Execution Environments (TEE). This ensures sensitive information remains encrypted and impenetrable even during computation.

By integrating this technology into L&T Vyoma's AI Factory model, the partnership enables the secure deployment of AI models without exposing proprietary Intellectual Property. It protects both enterprise and citizen data during processing, supports compliance with India's data sovereignty requirements, and enables cryptographic verification of trusted environments.

L&T Vyoma and Fortanix are committed to jointly developing sovereign AI and data security solutions. The companies will pursue co-selling initiatives across regulated industries and drive customer enablement through proof-of-concept engagements. Additionally, L&T Vyoma will facilitate engagement with leading Indian AI model builders to strengthen the ecosystem for sovereign AI innovation, marking a significant step toward building a secure AI ecosystem in India.
