
Karnataka Bank Appoints Cybersecurity Expert Parthasarathi Periaswamy as Additional Director
Karnataka Bank Ltd has appointed Shri Parthasarathi Periaswamy as an Additional Director (Non-Executive, Independent). The appointment is effective from July 29, 2026, and spans a period of four years.Mr Parthasarathi Periaswamy brings extensive experience in technology and cybersecurity to the private sector lender. He is recognized as a seasoned leader with over three decades of service at the highest levels within India's financial sector.
His background includes serving as Chief Information Security Officer and Chief General Manager (IT) at the Reserve Bank of India. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in modernizing mission critical infrastructure and strengthening resilience across the banking ecosystem by helping to shape national cybersecurity frameworks.
Mr Parthasarathi has also served as the Chief Technology Officer at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). At IDRBT, his responsibilities included directing IT infrastructure, trust services, and the national threat intelligence platform known as IB CART. His leadership efforts also involved convening the CISO Forum and organizing national cyber drills to foster preparedness among banks.
Beyond his central banking experience, Mr Parthasarathi has advised numerous leading private sector banks on crisis management, cybersecurity governance, and policy reviews. Furthermore, he was a Board Member of Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS), an RBI subsidiary, from 2019 to 2021, where he oversaw technology governance and sector wide IT initiatives.
Widely respected for his ability to bridge regulation, strategy, and technology, Mr Parthasarathi shares a deep passion for advancing organizational resilience, cybersecurity governance, and regulatory technology. His extensive experience in Information Technology and cybersecurity is expected to bolster the digital initiatives of Karnataka Bank.
