Jharkhand Budget 2026-27: ₹1.58 Lakh Crore Outlay, Mahila Khushhali Yojna Announced for Women Farmers

Jharkhand Government Presents ₹1.58 Lakh Crore Budget for FY27

Ranchi, February 24: The Jharkhand government on Tuesday presented a ₹1.58 lakh crore budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the state assembly, marking an increase from the ₹1.45 lakh crore outlay announced for 2025-26.

Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore tabled a total budget of ₹1,58,560 crore, outlining the government’s focus on inclusive growth across sectors.

“I have placed before the House a budget of ₹1,58,560 crore for the 2026-27 financial year,” the minister said during the presentation.

Focus on Inclusive Growth: Poor, Farmers, Tribal Communities and Women

The minister said the budget aims to address the aspirations of all sections of society, including the poor, farmers, tribal communities, and women. He described it as an ‘Abua Dishom’ budget, emphasizing that it is designed for the people of Jharkhand.

According to him, the new fiscal roadmap seeks to bring broad-based development and improve the socio-economic conditions of citizens across the state.

Mahila Khushhali Yojna Launched for Women in Agriculture

A key highlight of the Jharkhand Budget 2026-27 is the introduction of the Mahila Khushhali Yojna, a dedicated scheme for women engaged in agricultural activities.

The government has allocated ₹25 crore for the Women’s Prosperity Scheme, aimed at strengthening the economic participation of women farmers and supporting their livelihoods.

100 Model Schools of Excellence to Be Opened

The state government also announced the opening of 100 new Model Schools of Excellence in the upcoming fiscal year. The move is expected to strengthen the education infrastructure and improve access to quality schooling.

Emphasis on Natural Resources and Tourism

The finance minister highlighted Jharkhand’s rich mineral resources and prominent religious and tourist destinations, including the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, the Rajrappa temple, and tourist spots such as Netarhat.

He said the government remains committed to ensuring balanced and inclusive development across the state.

Centre-State Financial Dispute Raised in Assembly

During his address, the minister accused the Centre of not providing adequate financial assistance to Jharkhand. He claimed that the state did not receive ₹5,000 crore as its share of central taxes and ₹11,000 crore in grants-in-aid.

He further alleged that the share of central taxes allocated to the state is gradually declining. According to him, the state is also bearing an additional financial burden of ₹5,640 crore due to the VB-G RAM G Act.

Additionally, he criticized the Union government for not clearing dues amounting to ₹1.36 lakh crore related to coal supply to central public sector undertakings.

With a higher outlay and new welfare initiatives, the Jharkhand Budget 2026-27 places emphasis on social inclusion, education expansion, and support for women farmers, while also highlighting ongoing financial concerns between the state and the Centre.
