The stock surge was fueled by the company's robust earnings report for the June quarter (Q1FY27). This strong showing in both profit and revenue provided a massive boost to investor sentiment across the market segment.

Q1 Financial Performance Drives Rally and Profitability Rebound​

The consolidated net profit reported by Jaiprakash Power surged impressively by 68.6% year-on-year (YoY), reaching Rs 468.84 crore. This is a substantial improvement from the Rs 278.13 crore posted in the corresponding quarter last year. Crucially, the company returned to profitability on a sequential basis after reporting a net loss of Rs 13.37 crore in the preceding quarter.

Revenue performance was equally strong, with consolidated revenue from operations reaching Rs 1,775.70 crore for the June 2026 quarter. This represents a 12.2% growth YoY from Rs 1,583.16 crore. Sequentially, the company saw a stronger jump, with revenue climbing 28.1% from the Rs 1,386.43 crore reported in the March quarter. The core power segment continued to be the primary driver behind this overall operational growth.

Despite the sharp rally seen on Tuesday, Jaiprakash Power's stock has delivered a mixed performance across longer timeframes. The stock has recently declined around 6% over the past three months. Over the last year, it has been down nearly 17%. However, when looking at the long-term picture, the stock shows immense staying power, having surged about 198% over the past three years.

The company currently holds a market capitalisation of Rs 11,582 crore. Its trading range remains within bounds, with a 52-week high established at Rs 24.45 and a 52-week low recorded at Rs 13.14.

Institutional Confidence Boosts Buying Interest​

The earnings report was met with increasing confidence from institutional investors during the June 2026 quarter. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) increased their exposure to the company, raising their stake to 6.75% from 6.58% in the previous quarter. Mutual funds also showed increasing interest, boosting their holdings to 0.48% from 0.41%.

The promoter's position remained stable, with their pledged shareholding remaining unchanged at 72.99% of their holdings during the June 2026 quarter. Overall, the company's stake held by promoters stood at 24%.

From a technical perspective, the stock continues to exhibit positive momentum in its movement.
