Operational and Financial Notes
The financial results are subject to various ongoing operational statuses and legal matters:Power and Revenue Accounting:
Revenue for the quarter was accounted for on the basis of Multi Year Tariff (MYT) for Jaypee Bina TPP and Jaypee Nigrie STPP, which are subject to final assessment. For Visnuprayag HEP, revenue was booked based on a provisional tariff, also subject to true up/final assessment.
Disputes and Claims:
The company noted ongoing disputes regarding dues from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL). UPPCL assessed an amount of Rs. 47,316 lakhs as excess payment towards income tax and secondary energy charges for various financial years. The company has filed a petition with the UPERC against UPPCL, and while a prior order by UPERC disallowed these claims, the company is currently appealing the matter before APTEL. Management holds that the amount deducted/retained by UPPCL of Rs. 40,347 lakhs is recoverable from UPPCL as per PPA terms.
Sand Mining Disputes:
Regarding sand mining activities in Andhra Pradesh (AP), the company received show cause notices and demand notices from various district offices of DMG totaling Rs. 347,887 lakhs (as at June 30, 2026). The company disputes these notices, arguing that the inspection was conducted after a significant gap and during an intervening period when another agency was engaged by DMG. Management states that there is no need to make any provision against these demands as the contracts were sub-contracted on a back-to-back basis and are legally disputed.
Lender Guarantee Matters:
The company reported a pending matter concerning the Corporate Guarantee (CG) provided to State Bank of India (SBI) regarding loans granted to JAL. As per contractual arrangements, SBI was agreed to release and return this guarantee upon restructuring. The management states that subsequent invocation of the guarantee by SBI or NARCL is contrary to the contractual arrangement binding the parties.
The financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, have been reviewed by an Independent Auditor's Review Report, which included a qualified conclusion regarding two specific matters: the non-quantification of the corporate guarantee and the non-provisioning against the recompense claim amount made by lenders (ICICI Bank).
