Segment Highlights and Growth Drivers

Mr. Vikas Gupta, Joint Managing Director, commented on the results, noting that the record quarterly performance was particularly encouraging given prevailing geopolitical uncertainties, inflationary pressures, and supply chain disruptions in select raw materials.

The growth across both business segments contributed significantly to the overall results:

  • Pharmaceuticals Business: Revenue in the Pharmaceuticals segment saw a 43% year-on-year increase, while EBIT grew by 72% YoY. Non-Ibuprofen products accounted for 43% of Pharma revenue in Q1 FY27, up from 36% a year prior. This growth was driven by strong demand across Paracetamol, Pantoprazole, Metformin, Fenofibrate, and other APIs. Capacity utilisation for Paracetamol improved to 65%, up from 60% in the previous quarter.
  • Chemicals Business: The Chemicals business delivered a 29% YoY revenue growth and experienced a substantial 193% YoY EBIT growth. This success was supported by better realisations, improved operational efficiencies, disciplined raw-material procurement, and increased exports.

International Expansion and Market Status

The company's export performance continues to strengthen, with exports contributing 28.5% of revenue in Q1 FY27, up from 24.4% in Q1 FY26, reflecting growing market traction internationally.

A key operational achievement highlighted was the NMPA approval granted to IOL’s Clopidogrel API product in China, complementing its existing valid CEP registration and further expanding access to the Chinese pharmaceutical market.
