Infosys and Handelsblatt Media Group Launch AI-Powered Engine to Enhance Digital Storytelling

Infosys, a global leader in digital services, and the Handelsblatt Media Group, Germany's foremost media group for business and finance, have jointly unveiled Editorial Link Intelligence (ELI). This new AI-powered editorial recommendation engine is designed to significantly elevate digital journalism by improving storytelling and boosting reader engagement for the Handelsblatt and WirtschaftsWoche platforms.

The launch marks a crucial achievement in Infosys' three-year collaboration with Handelsblatt, positioning Infosys as its official AI & Digital Innovation Partner.

Editorial Link Intelligence (ELI) leverages Infosys Aster, an AI-amplified marketing suite. The engine was developed by Wongdoody, Infosys' human experience agency, and is specifically designed to help modernize the editorial operations of Handelsblatt and WirtschaftsWoche. The solution functions by analyzing both article content and metadata to intelligently recommend internal links, thereby enhancing narrative depth and improving reader navigation.

The seamless integration of ELI into the existing content infrastructure allows editors to enrich stories without disrupting their workflow, ultimately freeing up time for critical activities like qualitative reporting, research, and analysis.

Impact Across the Publishing Ecosystem

The impact of ELI is described as spanning the entire publishing ecosystem. For editorial teams, the tool streamlines the process of link curation and boosts operational efficiency. For readers, it guarantees a more intuitive and immersive journey through complex topics. For publishers, the technology drives measurable business outcomes, including increased site engagement, higher time spent on the site, and reinforcement of the value of trusted journalism in a competitive digital environment.

Christian Herp, Chief Product Officer at Handelsblatt Media Group, noted that the partnership creates direct value for the editorial teams through targeted AI use. He stated that by integrating the tool into their content management system, it helps journalists identify and link relevant content, sustainably enhancing user experience and increasing customer satisfaction.

Similarly, Charlotte Morré, Member of the Editorial Board at Handelsblatt, emphasized that ELI enables the provision of more context and relevant related content, offering readers better guidance. She added that the final review and editorial control remain with the newsroom colleagues, strengthening quality while giving teams more time for research and analysis.

Ashiss Kumar Dash, EVP and Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy & Enterprise Sustainability, highlighted that by combining Infosys' expertise with Handelsblatt's editorial excellence, they have created a blueprint for the future of intelligent storytelling. He noted that ELI utilizes Infosys Aster's strengths to demonstrate how AI can amplify journalistic craft, not by replacing human judgment, but by enriching every article with deeper context and smarter navigation.

Handelsblatt Media Group is recognized as Germany's leading media house for business and financial information. With its brands, Handelsblatt and WirtschaftsWoche, it reaches more than 3.7 million readers each week.
