Modi Urges Citizens to Prioritize National Interest and Unity​

Noida, March 28 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called on citizens to work with dedication and unity to tackle global challenges, emphasizing that India must prioritize its national interests during times of crisis.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the Noida International Airport, he urged people to remain calm and united amid ongoing global uncertainties.

“This is a global crisis, but we must prioritize India’s interests. That is our greatest strength,” he said.

West Asia Conflict Raises Concerns Over Energy Security​

Referring to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Modi said India is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to safeguard its citizens and economy.

He highlighted India’s dependence on crude oil and gas imports from the region and assured that the government is working to ensure that the burden does not fall on families and farmers.

“Viksit Bharat” Vision Requires Collective Effort​

The Prime Minister stressed that achieving the vision of a developed India, or “Viksit Bharat,” will require collective effort from all 1.4 billion citizens.

He noted that discussions on the global situation have taken place in Parliament and through consultations with Chief Ministers, reflecting a coordinated national approach.

Warning Against Irresponsible Political Statements​

Modi cautioned political parties, especially in Uttar Pradesh, against making irresponsible remarks during sensitive times.

He said that statements harming national interests may offer short-term political gains but would ultimately be rejected by the people, recalling public response to misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Noida International Airport to Drive Regional Growth​

Inaugurating the airport, Modi described it as a major milestone in the journey toward a developed Uttar Pradesh and India.

He said the airport would boost economic activity in western Uttar Pradesh by creating opportunities for farmers, small businesses, and youth.

The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, among other dignitaries.

Aviation Expansion and Affordable Air Travel​

Highlighting the government’s aviation policy, Modi said the focus has been on expanding airport infrastructure while ensuring affordability for citizens.

He pointed to the success of the UDAN Scheme, under which over 1.6 crore passengers have traveled at affordable fares.

The scheme has been expanded with an outlay of around ₹29,000 crore, with plans to develop new airports in smaller cities and build nearly 200 helipads.

Growing Aviation Sector Creates Jobs for Youth​

Modi noted that India’s rapidly growing aviation sector has led airlines to place orders for hundreds of aircraft, creating significant employment opportunities.

He added that the government is expanding aviation training infrastructure to prepare the workforce for operations, maintenance, and servicing roles.

Boost to MRO Sector and Self-Reliance​

Highlighting past challenges, Modi said nearly 85% of aircraft maintenance was previously conducted abroad due to limited domestic facilities.

He emphasized the government’s push to make India self-reliant in the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector, including the establishment of new facilities at Jewar.

Infrastructure Push Driving Faster Connectivity​

The Prime Minister reiterated that infrastructure development remains a top priority, with significant investments made over the past decade.

He cited projects like metro expansions and the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat train, which has benefited over 2.5 crore passengers by drastically reducing travel time.

Massive Investments in Highways and Transport​

Modi stated that the infrastructure budget has increased more than sixfold in the last 11 years, with around ₹17 lakh crore spent on highways and expressways.

He added that over 1 lakh kilometres of highways have been constructed, significantly improving connectivity across the country.

Jewar Airport to Become Major Multi-Modal Hub​

The first phase of the Noida International Airport project is being developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore. It is designed as a multi-modal transport hub with seamless connectivity through road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems.

The airport will initially handle 12 million passengers annually, with plans to scale up to 70 million. It will also include a cargo hub with an initial capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes, expandable to 18 lakh metric tonnes.

The Prime Minister also inspected the terminal during his visit, marking the beginning of a new phase in India’s aviation and infrastructure growth story.
