Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Receives Income Tax Demand Notice​

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) announced today, March 27, 2026, that it has received a demand notice under Section 156 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The notice, received from the Assessment Unit, Income Tax Department, pertains to the Assessment Year 2024-25.

The notice, identified as DIN ITBA/AST/S/156/2025-26/1087952314(1) dated March 26, 2026, specifies a total demand of ₹81,65,140 due to an alleged underreporting of total income.

IRCTC stated that the demand represents a financial exposure of ₹81,65,140. The company intends to contest the demand through legal channels within the prescribed timelines. The company noted that the demand is litigative in nature.
