Prior to his current role as Director (Finance) at IRCTC, he was involved with Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL).His professional background also includes heading the corporate accounts team of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary company of Coal India Limited (CIL). Additionally, Shri Narain served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Chhattisgarh East Railway Limited (CERL) and Chhattisgarh East West Railway Limited (CEWRL), two subsidiary companies of SECL for six years.
Shri Narain holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance). He is noted for his skills in strategic thinking, negotiation, stakeholder management, Team Building, and Mentoring.
